Hi!

I'm listing some of things I think needs to be updated / corrected. If
you think it makes sense, please add me to EditorsGroup

I have recently reviewed some of the Python SOAP clients and
discovered that https://wiki.python.org/moin/WebServices is outdated.
The Suds link should be replaced with
https://github.com/suds-community/suds Since other unmaintained
projects are listed some of the SOAPpy projects should be listed too -
ref .https://pypi.org/project/SOAPpy/ and
https://pypi.org/project/SOAPpy-py3/

On https://wiki.python.org/moin/SOAP the sentence "Among pertinent
Python-based implementations are ZSI, ..." should be removed.

Some of the ZSI stuff should be removed. I suggest redirecting
https://wiki.python.org/moin/Zolera%20Soap%20Infrastructure and
https://wiki.python.org/moin/ZSI to
https://wiki.python.org/moin/WebServices

Regards,
Hans Nordhaug / hansfn

PS! I see that all the projects list only the source homepage and not
the pypi.org project page. I assume that have been decided?

In the simple program

    def print_cube(num):

    def print_square(num):

         p2.join()
         # both processes finished
         print("Done!")

the Python Shell 3.8.2 (both the 32 and 64 Bit version) does not execute
the multiprocessing.Process? instruction, and outputs

= RESTART: C:\Users\gerhartr\Desktop\Python\Concurrent\Multiprocessing\python1.py
Done!
>>>

Using the cmd python.exe command,? the correct output

Square: 100
Cube: 1000
Done!

This error can be documented also in other programs which uses the
multiprocessing.Process instruction.

Gerhard,

This isn't the right place for this question, you may want to hunt
around on the Internet for better places. StackOverflow might be a place
you could get more detailed answers.

It seems like you're referring to IDLE when you say "the Python Shell"
above. And indeed if I paste your code into IDLE, I see the behavior you
mention. There's a reason for it that has to do with the design of
IDLE, it's not actually that it's not working, but that when using
multiprocessing (which forks) the output ends up not able to make it
back to the shell window any longer (the socket is not duplicated).

Just to clear up any doubt, IDLE is not Python, although it comes with
Python and is written in Python. You might want to try a different
development environment if this behavior is problematic for you, though
it seems you already have a workaround: run the code directly from a shell.

Hi,

I would like to edit the page on:

regarding addition of some new GUI testing tools. After checking the front
page I was redirected to to write an email to this address and ask to be
included in the editors. Is this still possible?

Thanks in advance,

It requires two things:

(1) a coherent email from a human indicating some knowledge of what
they're doing, to avoid bots and scammers. DONE

(2) a wiki account name that can be added to the page of authorized
editors. We still need that...

Dear Admins,

I would like to introduce myself. I am from Ethiopia - Oromo community. Currently, I am working on my PhD Robotics and Automation in University of Siegen, Germany. I have experience in python programming of course I am implementing it in my research as well now.

Oromo community covers more than 40% of the Ethiopian population and the language is widely spoken in Eastern Africa. I would like to contribute in Oromo language in python wikis.

Please, welcome me to the community and grant me a permission to add new language page in Oromo language which could address about 40 Million peoples.

Kind regards,

Sorry, I've lost track over time. Where should people report problems /
requests with Python website content (not wiki content)? These come
periodically to webmaster, which is actually in some way logical, but
oddly (to outsiders) we don't actually do that.

The issue tracker for the pythondotorg project
(https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/issues) used to be recommended,
and while it still has some people who respond, they don't seem to know
either. e.g. this enlightening response to a request from Dan Bader to
add a link to RealPython podcasts:

"Hmm I don't even know who owns/manage the content of python.org?"

Anybody here have a suggestion? We have something in the webmaster
autoresponse message, I'd like to update it if there's a reliable place
for folks to go to.

regards,

Dear Joseph,

Thank you for your note.

I wrote that piece. I do not think there is an error. The duplication is
deliberate, and the end of the paragraph is different and relevant to
the "I depend on some software written in Python 2. What should I do?"
question. Could you share your thoughts on why the answer in that
section does not apply?

Thank you!

Hi Sumana,

Thanks for the quick reply. When I read the section in question, I expected to see guidance on how to transition to Python 3 (similar to the "I wrote code in Python 2. How should I port it to Python 3?" section).

Upon rereading, I see the difference in the last sentence as you mentioned. I no longer believe there is an error.

Sincerely,
Joe Corvino

You mean this ticket, right ?

https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/issues/1570

> Anybody here have a suggestion? We have something in the webmaster
> autoresponse message, I'd like to update it if there's a reliable place
> for folks to go to.

The source code for python.org is managed in this repo:

https://github.com/python/pythondotorg

and it's (still) best to post any requests there:

https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/issues

Now, that's just the website itself. The CMS content can be maintained
by people who have a python.org account and permission to edit it:

https://www.python.org/admin/pages/page/

In the past such requests also landed on the above issue tracker,
but I guess not a lot people monitor this anymore, so perhaps
it's better to write requests for edits to this ML instead
and hope that someone will go in and update the CMS.

I used to help with this, but no longer have time for it.

FWIW: I fixed and closed the above ticket.

Python Team,

The https://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide/Programmers page includes
the following MIT course from 2008:
MIT's 6.00 Introduction to Computer Science and Programming
<http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-fall-2008/?r=iTunes>
(in
Python). This is outdated but it looks like there is a more recent version
you can sign up for via edX.

Here is a link to the 2016 course,
https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-0001-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-in-python-fall-2016/lecture-videos/

I did not create a Wiki account as I do not currently plan to be a regular
editor but will create one if that changes in the future.

Cheers,
Brian Schilling

Hello!

I have just signed up. My wiki username: asterite

I want to edit the table in section "Special-purpose tools" on page
"PythonDebuggingTools". It says that tool "pystuck" uses GDB to inject
code, but I didn't find anything about attaching using GDB (or otherwise
injecting code to an unprepared live python process) in pystuck's code,
documentation and commit history. So I thought? that sentence "Uses GDB
to inject code" about "pystuck" is wrong and I wanted to remove it from
pystuck's table row.
