I had a browse at the docs and code, but not enough to identify a
definite area of interest yet. However, remembered a paper I saw
recently:

``A Survey of Adaptive Optimization in Virtual Machines'' by
M. Arnold, S. J. Fink, D. Grove, M. Hind, and P. F. Sweeney
Proceedings of the IEEE, Vol. 93, No. 2, February 2005

(http://scholar.google.com finds the paper itself and an ealier preprint)

A nice survey by the IBM Jikes people. Plenty of further references:
looks like it might be a good place to start. Though, I don't know
enough about PyPy yet to see exactly how (or if) this would fit in.
