Great. I'll give it a try as soon as it's available.

This sounds like it reflects what I see under CPython. I've spent quite some time optimizing the major loops, so there's no obvious single bottleneck anymore.

I didn't try profiling under PyPy myself though. I did let the JIT viewer loose on it, but I was not sure how to even start interpreting its output.

Yes, very interesting. I might give it a shot. I'll be disappointed if PyPy2 isn't at least 5 times faster than CPython though! ;)
