No, it's a difference between the unicode databases used by the different versions of 
Python: python 2.6 uses 5.1.0, python 2.7 (and pypy1.5) uses 5.2.0:

c:\python26\python.exe -c "print u'a\u200bb'.split()"
[u'a', u'b']

c:\python27\python.exe -c "print u'a\u200bb'.split()"
