the problem has nothing to do with virtualenv, but with the default permissions
stored in the tarball: until today, the files were readable/executable only by
the owner.

You can easily fix your existing pypy installation by running::
    chmod -R a+rX /path/to/pypy1.5

revision 19b6a4d6992f fixes it more generally, by ensuring that the generated
tarballs contain the desired permissions.
