We *can* solve this in PyPy, and even have the code for it. It's just not
enabled by default, because we never found real-life code that is made fast by
it. What we need is a decision whether we want to support this code pattern (or
fight against it every time somebody has the problem).

@Hruske: if you want to experiment you could translate with this commandline and
see whether things improve:

translate.py -Ojit targetpypystandalone.py --objspace-std-withstrbuf
