I should add: since LLVM has certainly improved in the interim, it would be
great if you could give this a shot and see how it works now.  I may have closed
the issue too quickly based on your message "you should revive it" that seemed
to indicate that you wouldn't want to work on it yourself.  But it is true that
other people may show up.
