[pypy-issue] [issue1051] PyPy 1.8 is 50% slower than 1.7

I can confirm this, running windows7 64 bit on a core2duo processor. Running pypy-
1.7 requires 47 secs and ~22MB of memory, running pypy-1.8 requires 76 secs and 
~48 MB memory.
