Was a bit by chance -- originally i wanted to ask you to file a bug issue
and decided to "quickly" look into the issue in order to highlight where
the problem likely is to ease a PR by someone else.  When trying to state/
pinpoint the problem somewhat precisely, i looked a bit further ... and 
further ... and after more head scratching eventually just changed 
2 LOCs only 1-2 hours later ...

If you hadn't provided an easy way to reproduce the problem that
wouldn't have happened, though.  The only way you could have done even
better is with a PR that adds an xfailing test directly :)
