In the last year the database abstraction layer and the template language have been completely re-written (each implemented in one file each, [template.py](http://code.google.com/p/web2py/source/browse/gluon/template.py) and [dal.py](http://code.google.com/p/web2py/source/browse/gluon/dal.py)) so can be used with other python frameworks.

All in one package without dependencies. Does not require installation and can run off a USB stick (like having a Python based Heroku in your pocket). Runs on CPython 2.4-2.7, Jython and PyPy (experimental).
