Bug #111203, was updated on 2000-Aug-06 11:36
Here is a current snapshot of the bug.

Project: Python
Category: Build
Status: Open
Resolution: None
Bug Group: Platform-specific
Priority: 5
Summary: 1.6b1 build (docs?) pyexpat problem on Windows

Details: pyexpat is not documented as one of those subprojects needing external software, but apparently it is one; it needs xmlparse and xmltok, .h and .lib to build and .dll
to run. The docs don't mention where to get those from,
but I had them around (from a Perl site build...) and
feeding them to the Python 1.6b1 build fixed it. So I
think it's just a doc-bug.

Comment:
What documentation is there on this? Sounds like something needs to change in the Windows README file; not sure.

Tim, you're the Windows guy. Fix it. ;)

Comment:
Assigned to Guido, because last I heard 1.6 was frozen, and he's got the 1.6 Windows build setup anyway. The docs here were extensively rewritten for 2.0, and the complaint here doesn't exist there anymore.
