Category: Installation
Group: Python 2.1.1
>Status: Closed
>Resolution: Works For Me
Priority: 5
Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody)

Summary: install hangs

Initial Comment:
Install on NT 4.0 appears to go fine until the final
step. It says it is finished, but clicking on OK (or
finish) leaves server with a blue screen (python
install, not system crash). System just sits there &
does not change.. CPU at 30% or less...mostly less.
Help! User is frantic!

Thanks!

Log in to an Administrator account. Don't install over a
network (install from local copy). Accept defaults.
Ensure there's enough disk space. Kill virus checkers
(etc) for the duration ... this is all "general flaky
Windows" advice, there's nothing specific to Python here.

If all else fails, try the ActiveState or Secret Labs
installer.
