Summary: bad link David Ascher's compile.py script

Initial Comment:
The document "Extending and Embedding the Python Interpreter, October 16, 2000, Release 2.0", at

http://www.python.org/doc/current/ext/win-cookbook.html

contains a bad link to bad link David Ascher's compile.py script; the link is to http://starship.python.net/crew/da/compile/
but this URL doesn't work (it redirects to one that
refuses connections).

It'd be great if someone could put compile.py someplace
accessible and fix this link!

The entire section that links to this script is seriously in
need of updating. I'll try to look at this tomorrow.
Bumping the priority up, but not so much as to block the
release.

I'll gladly provide the script, but I've lost any energy
keeping a permanent website up. I haven't touched the
script in ages. I agree that distutils is probably the way
to go at this point.

Message:
This is a known problem. I have a copy of the script, but I need someone to test it to make sure it works with Python 2.0. Another possibility is to push the Distutils tools; that may be a better option at this point.
