Here is a current snapshot of the bug.
Project: Python
Category: Documentation
Status: Closed
Resolution: Duplicate
Bug Group: None
Priority: 5
Submitted by: tim_one

Summary: HTML rendering of >>> in doctest
Details: This is one paragraph where the LaTeX contains two instances of
\code{">>>"}
The HTML renders as two characters within the double quotes, first a »
entity, then a > entity reference. Looks bizarre:
"»>"
