Initial Comment:
The install-sh shipped with Python 2.2.3c1 is out of
date with respect
to the canonical install-sh shipped with Automake. The
Automake version has fixed a few portability bugs
having to do with spaces in directory names, the
unportable use of "[ ... -o ... ]", and the like.
The simplest fix is to copy automake/lib/install-sh
into Python. I'll also try to attach a patch below.
