In the online manual:
http://www.python.org/doc/2.4/lib/node577.html
"12.2.12 Differences from mimelib" there's a typo:

"The methodgetmaintype() was renamed to get_main_type()."

Suggestion: a space after the word "method".

So something like this:
"The method getmaintype() was renamed to get_main_type()."
