[issue8504] bsddb databases in python 2.6 are not compatible with python 2.5 and are slow in python 2.6

To make it 100% clear:

The versions are almost the same for Linux and Windows.
           Python 2.5            Python 2.6
Windows  4.4.5.3 (4, 6, 20)    4.7.3 (4.7.25)
Linux    4.4.5.3 (4, 6, 21)    4.7.3 (4.7.25)
