Oh I had no idea! That makes sense. How do I know which version of Tk I'm working with? I'm testing on Mac OSX as well!

Would there be anyway for you to test my patch for turtledemo to see if the sash causes artifacting for you? I see tearing but it snap back into place within less than a second, which doesn't seem that bad.
