That's why 2.2 has to ship before January <wink>.

The last time this came up, people tried to turn "the magic number" into a
database.  Since Guido won't go for that, chances seem good that, in the
absence of a reasonably modest alternative scheme, we'll just pick new
numbers out of a hat.
