[Python-Dev] Built in objects supporting slices

I would be happy to help on this one either in the design stage, code
review,
or writing the unittests and docs.

Maybe we should also address the str/getitem/slice bug
www.python.org/sf/473985 and kill two birds with one stone (or tie two
swallows to one coconut or some such).
