I have been waiting for such a patch to get incorporated for a long
time now. ZIP file imports would be great for packaging software
in a way which lets the packager have more control of what's lying
around on the user machine, e.g. it allows removing cruft very
easily and makes user space tampering harder.

Whatever you come up with, please make sure that ZIP file based
imports become possible.
