I don't see this. operator.isMappingType() maps directly to
PyMapping_Check(); and I tried this:
>>> import operator
>>> operator.isMappingType(str)
False
>>> class C(object): pass
...
>>> operator.isMappingType(C)
False
>>> operator.isMappingType(C())
False
>>> operator.isMappingType({})
True

Looks okay to me. :-)
