I do:

debian:~ > jython
Jython 2.1 on java1.1.8 (JIT: null)
Type "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> 1+2
3
>>> # hello
>>> ^D

(This is why I use Debian... 'apt-get install jython' :-)
