Speaking as a lurker with little interest in the particular topic, PEP 572
has almost driven me to unsubscribe. It's not the massive number of posts
that is annoying, but the fact that seemingly (perhaps literally?) scores
of separate threads have been created for it. A single thread, or a small
number of threads, are easily muted, but when multiple new threads are
created seemingly daily or weekly for months on end, trying to gain control
of my inbox feels like an endless game of Whac-A-Mole [1] with no prizes,
and that's not a good thing.
