Automating the whole process is not possible, since we always have to check whether the data is valid, the events are eligible, choice of calendar and possible corrections. What would help is a form input system which then outputs the events in a standard format via email in both text and ical format, so that adding the events to the calendars becomes a simple accept task. On the website we could then point people to an input form. This would reduce a lot of the overhead from malformed submissions. That said, I don't know where this could be hosted. One option would be the python.org website, but getting stuff into the code base is not the easiest thing in the world. Another option would be a Google form based system using a Google Apps Script backend. Website: https://www.hackbout.tech/ We are currently expecting a turnout of 200+ participants, i.e, about 50 teams. We will be getting tons of press coverage as this event will happen side by side NMIT's annual cultural fest, Annadyanta, which had over 30000 people in attendance last year. I would like to inquire if we could get any type of support from your company be it in the form of sponsorship or mentorship. After Ewa's call on the psf-community list, I received a number of emails from potential volunteers. Now, the only way to participate in the project is by registering on the python-events ML, since that's where all the incoming event listing requests will get posted. If you are one of the volunteers, please introduce yourself and let me know your Google account compatible email address. This is needed, since the two calendars we are maintaining are Google calendars. The next step then is to get you signed up with editing rights to those calendars and run through the process we have for putting events on the calendars. I have tried to put most aspects on the wiki page: https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonEventsCalendar#Python_Calendar_Team Please read it carefully and let me know whether you have any questions. There are most certainly some corner cases missing, where it's not clear to which calendar to add an event or whether to reject a request. We always ask people to send in requests using the email template we have for this: https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonEventsCalendar#Submitting_an_Event If someone does not follow those instructions, we usually either try to fill in the gaps or simply ask for a repost of the request in this format. Before adding an event, it has to be clear that the event has relevance for the calendars (= Python is the main driver of the event) and is not mainly focusing on training. We don't accept the latter since we already have a different resource for these, they are mostly commercial, would take up a lot of our time to maintain and clutter up the calendars. Perhaps we'll add a new calendar for these some day, but this would involve adding support on the python.org website as well. A special note on the event description: Since this is shown on the python.org website, in map mashups, on Twitter and other feeds, it needs to be short and informative. We've settled on just putting an HTML link into the field which then provides more information. When adding the link to the Google calendar you have to pay attention to the UI used for this. The Google UI requires pasting in a link as actual link (no HTML), whereas many IMAP clients need the raw HTML. Not using the right approach will result in the event either showing up quoted HTML on python.org or not be clickable. If you have questions, please let me know. The wiki and calendars are meant to help the community, not to promote companies. Listing a few workshops on the training page should be fine though as long as you stick to the rules set out on that page.
