With all those "p"-s, it must be a (virtual) **Presentation Evening** on
Wed 19 Oct, 1800 for 1830 \~ 2030 NZDT (UTC+13).

Will you 'beam in' from overseas? Please be reminded that New Zealand is
now operating one (more) hour earlier than the rest of the world, having
moved to "**Daylight Saving Time**" ('Summer Time') - hence the "D" in NZDT.

**Nathan Smith** had an 'itch' caused by a problem related to the game of
Scrabble. Like us all, he was self-motivated and thought 'this should be
quite straightforward'. Like all of us found the '**progress**' was
sometimes a step forwards, and sometimes a brick-wall. Thus,
**data-structures** related to words, dictionaries (of both definitions)
and Directed Acyclic Word Graphs (DAWG), highlighting how they work
(specialised networks and DAGs). How he personally struggled to understand
the concepts, and even then, how **frustrating** it was until constructed
his own.

A journey of **challenges**, a lesson of not giving in and hopefully a good
story all round. Just as any and all of us face in our own lives as Python
Developers. - but wait, there's more! He will recount a blind person's
perspective on coding through the project, presenting overview information
on the way a blind person may **access** code and what similarities or
differences may crop up. Using this foundation to tie it into every day
challenges we all face when coding, whether we're making a number
generation game or the next AI that won't take over the world... Probably.

**Creative Coding With Python**: Learn how to code simple visuals in Python
for games, innovative stats, simulations and generative art using a flavour
of the processing library. This can be incredibly useful for teaching
programming, **visualising** concepts and sharpening **thinking** skills.

**Abdur-Rahman Janhangeer** organises the Python Mauritius User Group and
FlaskCon\* (amongst many other contributions to the Python Community
including graphic presentation libraries)

\* in case you've not come-across it, **Flask** is a very popular web
framework

Please **RSVP** for meeting URL.

The Auckland members of the New Zealand Python Users Group meet every
month. You're very **welcome** to join us online. We are a healthy **mix**
of Python users. Students, academics, hobbyists, industry professionals,
and many completely new to Python.

During these meetups, we have two presentations by members of the group
about their Python endeavours. At least one of the presentations should be
aimed at a **beginner level**, so don't worry if you are not too familiar
with Python. There is also content of-interest to **Python-Masters** and
others who have been programming for many years.

The **web-conference** opens at 6:00pm, with a formal welcome at 6:30pm.
Everything should be wrapped up by 8:30pm. See you there!

We are always on the look-out for **subjects** to cover at meetings;
**speakers** willing to present, coach, and guide; and a suitable
**location** for 'hybrid' meetings so that those who can, will be able to
meet in-person.

We follow the NZPUG **code of conduct** to create an inclusive friendly
environment. https://python.nz/Page/42341

Let us know if there are any problems that you are having by asking in the
**comments** below.
