Do you just mean, "What is the most common idiom?"

I'll answer on that assumption, though if I'm correct,
comp.lang.python would be the more appropriate list.

Tell the spoon to bend itself.

There are probably other things you could tell the spoon, but no
reason to believe that other objects bend.

Tell Johnson to bend a spoon.

You could have told him to bend a knife instead.
