Using python-ldap with web2ldap

Following the advice on the list to delete the references to 'ufn' in 
modules/LDAPObject.c I have been able to get the module to compile and 
it imports without criticism.  However, web2ldap (which is the only 
program presently using pytjon-ldap) no longer works.
 When a user tries to connect, the following error message is generated 
in the apache log:
