I just tried this myself on Ubuntu 10.04.4 and could reproduce the issue.

OpenLDAP lib version: 2.4.21-0ubuntu5.7
Python LDAP version: 2.3.10-1ubuntu1

Of course, I have no idea what versions Dusan is running.
