There is a package for mySQL, though mySQL might not be professional
(pricey) enough to impress your friend. It would be quite easy to
develop an interface to db2, which is certainly professional and robust
enough, and is available for AIX, Linux, NT, and other platforms. Be
advised db2 tends to be huge and resource hungry, and may require a full
time administrator for non-trivila applications.
