How to use KConfig - pyKDE 0.8?

I'm trying to find out how to read and write to the KDE application rc file.
Since I'm using KTMainWindow a configurationfile is created.
Now I would like to add my own parameters to this file so that I don't have
to create another config-file.
I found som info on KConfig on the KDE site, but I can't get it to work.
Is there anyone that kan supply an example of how to read and write to a KDE
application rc file?
