Tk8.0.5 for Linux not compiling!

I compiled Python 1.5.2 under Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 on an IBM Aptiva
and everything works fine. Also tcl8.0.5/unix compiled successfully.

But ./configure under tk8.0.5/unix produced:
...
checking for X11 header files...couldn't find any!
checking for X11 libraries...checking for -1Xwindow...no
couldn't find any! Using -1X11

and make produced a whole bunch of parse errors in ... /generic/tk.h

Any help appreciated.
