Ellipsis?

Hallo,

In the python reference manual, there is this text:

Ellipsis:
This type has a single value. There is a single object with this value.
This object is accessed through the built-in name Ellipsis. It is used
to indicate the presence of the "..." syntax in a slice. Its truth value
is true.

Can someone please explain that to me? What's so special about '...'?

groeten,
Gerrit.
