most likely; I thought they'd use adobe's new webbuy
stuff (acrobat 4.1), but it looks like they have their own
technology. they claim to be working hard on mac and
unix versions, though (and they point this out on the
catalogue page).

(just speculating here, but this could mean that they're
simply waiting for Adobe to finish the 4.1 releases, which
will be available for all the usual Acrobat platforms)

so for now, I'm afraid prospective non-Windows customers
will have to see the eMatter thing as a distribution method
only: use a friend's computer to download it, print a copy,
and treat it as just another "pMatter" book. the *contents*
itself is far from being Windows-only. see:

for some more background, from the author's perspective.

yes. I'm afraid you have to update your reader. my mistake --
I saw a note somewhere saying that documents rendered with
acrobat 4.0 would work in 3.0 as long as you didn't use any new
fancy features, and I was naive enough to believe that -- after
all, I was 100% sure that you'd need 4.1 to buy them anyway...

you'll find the new reader here:

thanks!

for prospective readers, I suggest that you read Tanming
Fong's two reviews on the user review page:

http://www1.fatbrain.com/asp/Reviews/ReviewsRetrieve.asp?isbn=EB00002582

pretty much sums it all up! ;-)
