here in the UK telecoms isn't cheap for the home user during the day. At
night it's cheaper and a download of 4mb may cost less than 50c. It's
certainly better than it used to be, but $5 to try out the cygwin win32
stuff (as I did the other day) is certainly a potential barrier.
