Martin, Paddy -- this is stuff I'd like to see implemented too, at least
some of it.
Director, the commercial product I'm familiar with, is a sort of model
that is not dissimilar to what I've got in mind. It has pretty much
everything just mentioned here, though it's very very pricey, and does
not work on any *NIX.
Also its VHLL intepreter leaves a *lot* to be desired.
There's discussion now on howdy-L about a lot of this stuff. All are
welcome to join; it's hosted off nightwares. Just send the standard
"subscribe" note to howdy at nightwares.com if you want to jump in the
fray. :)
Be warned though -- I'm just beginning in Python. I know it can do what
we'd like it to do; but I, like most h-l subbers, have experience in
Director primarily. So we're approaching this concept from the
perspective of people who've been using a VHLL IDE for years...
