Visual Studio add-ins in Python

Some colleagues and I are interested in writing some fairly complex
Visual Studio add-ins in Python.  Before digging into writing a complex
add-in, we will probably try a simple one, analogous to what appears at:

Has somebody already written an add-in using Python?  I have the
_Programming Python_ book, but gather that it would be worthwhile to
also purchase _Python Programming on Win32_ for this project.  Correct?
