Addressing schemes (Re: Perl is worse! (was: Python is Wierd!))

	To add to the confusion... Kent County, MI (centered on Grand
Rapids) has "x Mile Road" to the north, and "nth Streets" to the south
(both being east/west running streets).

	The county next over to the west has numbered Avenues -- which
run north/south.

	Is the Grand Rapids "8 blocks/mile" common, or just my
imagination? (From 28th street to 36th street is one mile).
