Another good idea, thanks!
By the way, I do much like that `assert' is a an element of Python syntax,
instead of a feature of the library. It's much cleaner this way, and it
also recognises that assertions are an important enough concept, to warrant
a good place even in a language which tries to not proliferate concepts.
