Netcfg python error

When trying to run netcfg, I get the error message:

EOFError: EOF read where object expected

I am using Mandrake 6.0 , kernel 2.2.9-19mdk
python 1.5.1-11mdk
netcfg 2.21-3mdk


...any help would be appreciated.
