Newbie: Development plaform

I was also looking for something like so, and I decided to go with:

GUI:  wxPython (wxWindows for Python): http://www.wxpython.org
DB:   Gadfly http://www.chordate.com/gadfly.html
Distribution:  Not sure yet, but right now, I think I will leave it up to my
users to install Python, wxPython and Gadfly, and then my software which
will update itself through the internet.
