Again: ODBC / Win98 -> crash

i have installed the most recent mdac 2.5 and now cannot connect to any
DSNs with ADO!!! and cannot make DSN-less connections with ADO!!!

  tried rolling back to 2.1 (nope... component checker reports v 2.5)
+ re-install 2.5
+ re-install python 1.5.2
+ re-install python win32 all
+ try again
--------------------------------
 NFG

no solution yet... _if_ i find one i will post it.
