help compiling PIL

Hey all,

  I'm trying to compile PIL 1.1.. It seems to work well enough, but
when I actually run it, I get:

>>> import _imaging
Traceback (innermost last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in ?
ImportError: Undefined symbol "_ImagingSavePPM" in python:./_imaging.so


   Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong?
