Speed with Python

I deal mostly with business applications, and when we got
started the systems could read/change/write about 100 times
a minute. I still support a lot of that software, such
that whatever speed issues existed have been more than
adequately addressed by advances in hardware. Speed
from that perspective has always been a function of
customer budget.
