Why should I switch to Python?

I agree that Programming Python is not very good to learn from, for
the reasons you mention.

Learning Python is much much better, and is more complete than you
think if you're the kind of person (like me) who generally turns up
his nose at 'Learning XXX' books.

I skimmed through The Quick Python Book and it also seems very good.
