I know! :-)

The goal behind the idea is automatically converting a Makefile, _hoping_
to get a more readable result.  Automatic conversion always has its own
idiosyncrasies, it is not easy to get clean results.

Rethinking and rewriting Makefiles into `make' replacements might be a
much more difficult task, and might not always be automated, I presume.
