I tried the new DLL (the download name seems to be
http://www.scintilla.org/Scintilla.dll ) with the same result. May I
send you a Dr. Watson report to neilh at scintilla.org ?

Huh? Backslashes (\) are fine for me. The problem occurs with
non-spacing accents only ( ´  ` and ^ ; hopefully we see the same
characters here: an up, down and circumflex accent).
