I've just tried it with an Enlish(USA) locale. Same thing - the
segfault occurs immediately after hitting the ^ key (I was imprecise
in my first posting).

Maybe another German Python user could check it out? Just copy the
five line passage below a hundred times into a new Python script
window and press ^.
