Ooops, my fault.  I read the indent level wrong (bad for a Python geek to 
do <grin>) and thought the other guy was flaming you.

Very definitly related.  I wrote a similar piece of code that stores the 
results of the ping in a database and kept track of how much my cable 
connection sucked.  (something like 5KB/sec during the day and 130KB/sec at 
4:36 AM).  I kinda thought about making it play a sound when it lost 4 or 5 
packets in a row (30% packet loss is typical here), but them I rm'd my 
directory of tars on accident and need to rewrite substantial pieces of the 
code :(
