In memory persistence - used as CGI

I'm using Python as a CGI language (for use both
in MS IIS & Linux Apache).  Is there a mechanism
for in-memory persistence of data for use by
different HTTP requests to different Python CGI
pages?  Specifically, I'm looking for something
similar to an Application() variable in MS IIS 4.
